Dr. K Sudha

Brief Profile

Obtained Ph.D from University of Calicut in 1993; over 26 years of teaching experience at P.G level; recipient of CAS-PIFI Visiting Scientist Fellowship (2015), CAS-TWAS Visiting Scholar Fellowship (2009 and 2011), Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellowship (2007), INSA Visiting Scientist Fellowship (2007) and IAS Summer Teacher Fellowship (2005) and University Post Doctoral Fellowship (1994). In the capacity of PI, completed five major research projects funded by International Foundation for Science (Stockholm,Sweden), BRNS, UGC, KSCSTE and SERB; Currently PI of one national and one international research projects funded by DST-SERB and KSCSTE and DST-RFBR. Approved Indo-Japan collaborative project. published 39 research papers in the peer reviewed journals and 6 papers in the conference proceedings and one book chapter; presented 18 papers in the conferences held in India and abroad; produced five Ph.Ds; reviewer of 11 reputed International journals. Dr. Sudha serves as a member for several professional and academic bodies of universities and government agencies.

In honour of excellence in teaching Dr. Sudha was chosen for Dr. P.K. Rajan Memorial Excellent Award (2012), Prof. Sivaprasad Memorial Award (2013) and St. Berchmans Award (2013) for Best College Teacher in Kerala. Organized one national level Lecture – Workshop in Molecular Endocrinology in 2006 and eight DST-INSPIRE Internship Science Camps; Co-convener of the national level workshop on Aquacultural Biotechnology (2005) Organized international webinar on ; served as NSS Programme Officer (2009-2012).

  • Parasitic crustaceans infecting the fishes: Host- parasite interaction
  • Protandrous hermaphrodism and Biphasic molt and their physiological interaction for the obligatory parasitic life in cymothoid isopods
  • Copepods associated with coral reef fishes
  • Impact of ionizing radiations on the shellfish meat
